State House, Banjul, 9th July 2025: The public is hereby informed that His Excellency President Adama Barrow, under Section 42(3) of the 1997 Constitution of the Republic of The Gambia has appointed Mr Joseph Colley as Chairperson and Mr Cherno M Jallow as Deputy Chairperson of the Independent Electoral Commission of the Republic of The Gambia, effective 20th June 2025.

Mr Colley, who is currently serving as a Commissioner, will continue as Chairperson for the remaining period of his term, which ends on 3rd March 2028. Meanwhile, Mr Cherno Jallow’s appointment is for seven years.

Both appointments are governed by the provisions of section 42(6) of the 1997 Constitution.
