The President of the Republic of The Gambia, His Excellency Adama Barrow has been congratulatory on his election victory as new President of The Gambia.
Below are text of the messages from FAO’s Director General Josc Graziano da Silva, Richard Austen of United Kingdom and Manlafi Jarjue Chief Driver, State House.
On the occasion of your triumphant election to the highest office of state, I have the honour to extend the congratulation of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and my own best wishes for health and success in the accomplishment of your national and global responsibilities.
I would like to convey my best wishes for happiness and prosperity to the people of The Gambia. May I also take this opportunity to express confidence in further strengthening the fruitful collaboration between The Gambia and FAO in view of the attainment of our common goals, and in the fight against hunger and malnutrition in the world.
As you mentioned in your inaugural speech, “We should remain united as men and women with a vision to build a Gambia that will allow each to develop one’s capacity to the fullest”. FAO stands ready to strengthen collaboration to drive the prosperity for all the people of The Gambia.
Accept, Excellency, the assurance of my highest consideration.
Josc Graziano da Silva
Greetings from the United Kingdom! I trust that all is well with you and all the family.
I would like to convey to you my sincerest congratulations on your election as the next President of The Gambia. I was delighted to hear this good news.
I was Deputy British High Commissioner in The Gambia from 1993 to 1996 and was Acting High Commissioner for most of the period from September 1994 to February 1995. I remember this time very well and throughout the years I have watched events in The Gambia with interest and often great concern.
I took early retirement from the Foreign and Commonwealth Office three years ago after serving as Her Majesty’s Ambassador in firstly Mongolia and then Panama. I am still very active in many areas.
I look forward to hearing about a very bright future for The Gambia under your wise leadership. If there is ever anything I could do to assist you, please do let me know.
Yours very sincerely,
On the occasion of Your Excellency’s victory in the last December 2016 Presidential Elections, I write on behalf of the entire drivers of this great office to congratulate Your Excellency and Government and the people of The Gambia as we reflect on this special day in the annals of our history.
We would like to assure Your Excellency of our unflinching support and loyalty to you and your government. We pray for Allah’s continued guidance and protection to be with Your Excellency and the entire First Family, long life and good health to achieve your development aspiration of this beloved motherland.
We are undoubtedly confident that, with Your Excellency in power, the country will continue to witness numerous meaningful socio-economic development projects spanning all sectors of our economy.
Long live The Gambia, Long live the Coalition.
